About Us

The Hidalgo Coin Club was established in 1960 and has had many different meeting locations since. We meet every 2nd Monday of the month at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in the music room which is located on the corner of Pecan and 4th St. in McAllen, Texas. The monthly meetings begin at 7:30pm and are comprised of door prizes, club business, coin presentations/speakers and a very large coin auction. For 2012 and on, the membership dues are $20.00 per year for adults and $2.00 per year for students 18 and under.

Our membership currently has over 70 members ranging in age from 12 to 92 and continues to grow. The club consists of members from the Rio Grande Valley, Mexico and Winter Texans from many northern states. The Hidalgo Youth Coin Club was formed in February of 2010 with some students owning dual membership with the adult club. Both coin clubs are based in the 'City of Palms' - McAllen, Texas.

Our club sponsors two coin shows a year (Feb/Nov), has a monthly 'Friday Night Coin Show' with guest presenters sharing their invaluable numismatic knowledge on specialized series, a lending Numismatic Library and an annual Awards/Banquet Dinner in December. The club's celebration of the 50th Anniversary took place on December 16, 2010.
